Because of Mr Darrow was my first stage play and was originally produced at the Finborough Arms Theatre in Earls Court in London before transferring to the Grove Theatre in Hammersmith.
It’s a black comedy which examines two couples who, following an innocent after-dinner suggestion, decide to play a game of Monopoly (Philadelphian Charles Darrow invented the famous board game during The Great Depression). A string of tantrums, arguments and broken friendships unfold in front of hosts Roger and Wendy before the board-game and its box get kicked into orbit!
